The data is published by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) and covers the global unit sales of service robots as well as the sales statistics of Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS).
Broadly speaking, service robots do not engage in production activities. According to the IFR definition, service robots are categorized into professional service robots, which are intended for use by trained professional operators (such as medical robots, logistics robots, and agricultural robots), and personal/domestic service robots, which do not require professional training (such as household cleaning robots and social interaction robots).
The data is updated annually. In addition to statistical data, an annual report is compiled in collaboration with Fraunhofer IPA, covering trends in the related industries.
