This indicator measures monthly semiconductor sales in Japan, as published by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). It covers demand across communication, computing, and automotive applications, serving as a reference point for the mature Asian semiconductor market.
The data is aggregated by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) from its 49 member companies, who report monthly through regional data collection agents that anonymize and transmit the data. Visit the WSTS for more information on how the organization produces its reports.
The three-month moving average smooths short-term fluctuations by averaging sales over the past three months, providing a clearer trend. The MoM growth rate compares the change between the current and previous month, helping to track short-term sales. Combined, they offer a more accurate view of semiconductor sales' short-term changes.
