Description
The FTSE 100 Index, compiled by the FTSE Group, is a market-capitalization-weighted blue-chip stock index. It consists of the 100 largest companies by market value listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).
However, since many of these companies are multinational corporations, the index does not fully reflect the performance of the UK domestic economy. As a result, the FTSE 250 Index is often regarded as a better indicator of the overall state of the UK economy.
