Description
The indicator is compiled and published by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). This indicator measures the production volume of new energy vehicles, including electric vehicles (EVs), plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs), and fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) within a given month. It serves as a critical gauge of the development and growth of the new energy vehicle sector in China. A higher production volume indicates a robust and expanding market, while a lower volume may signal challenges or slowdowns in the sector.
The production volume is calculated based on the total number of new energy vehicles produced within the month. It includes all categories of new energy vehicles such as electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and fuel cell vehicles. The data is collected from manufacturers and compiled by the NBS.
The data is updated monthly and is usually released within the first few weeks of the following month.
