Description
China Average Wage Index for Employed Staff and Workers is compiled and published by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China. This index represents the ratio of the average wage of employed staff and workers in the reporting period to that in the base period, reflecting the changes in nominal wage levels of employees over different periods. It serves as an important indicator for evaluating labor market conditions and income distribution. A higher index value generally indicates good wage growth and an improvement in living standards, while a lower value may suggest wage stagnation or decline.
Note: Employed staff and workers refer to those who work for an employer and have signed a labor contract, with wages, social insurance, and housing provident fund paid by the employer. This category also includes those temporarily not working due to study, illness, or maternity leave but still receiving wages from the employer. Furthermore, it includes individuals who should have signed a labor contract but haven't yet, employees in probation periods, off-budget hired personnel (e.g., temporary workers), as well as those dispatched to work at other units but still receiving wages from their original employer (e.g., secondments or external assignments).
