In the first half of 2026, China's cumulative industrial electricity consumption reached 3,276.0 billion kWh. Compared to the previous figure of 2,707.8 billion kWh, the single month of June added 568.2 billion kWh, reflecting a cumulative year-on-year increase of 5.3%. Driven by the explosive growth of AI data centers and battery charging and swapping services, high-tech manufacturing has become the main driver of electricity consumption. It is expected that the total electricity consumption of the whole society for the full year will maintain a steady growth of 5% to 6%, although attention must be paid to the risk of localized supply-demand tightness during the summer peak electricity consumption period.
