China's newly released tertiary industry power consumption for April 2026 (Q2 2026) was 151.70 billion kWh. Although it showed a pullback from the previous month's 160.10 billion kWh, the year-on-year growth rate reached a high of 8.9%. Among the sub-segments, the YoY power consumption growth of both charging and battery swap services and internet data services surged past 40%, reflecting that AI computing power and electric vehicles (EVs) have become new engines supporting power demand. Looking ahead, with the effect of computing-power synergy policies and the approaching summer peak power consumption, the tertiary industry's power consumption is expected to continue playing the main role in overall power growth.
