According to the latest DataTrack data, the cumulative year-on-year growth rate of China's urban and rural residential electricity consumption for May 2026 (Q2 2026) was 3.1%, falling back from the previous value of 4.5%. Although some external searches show that the official cumulative YoY growth for the first 5 months was 4.5%, benefiting from summer high temperatures and home appliance replacements, residential electricity consumption still retains a solid fundamental base. Meanwhile, power demand from new infrastructure such as AI data centers and charging and battery swapping facilities surged by over 40%, becoming the core highlight driving the expansion of the electricity market.
