China Floor Space of Buildings Completed is released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China and measures the total floor space of all construction projects completed within the country. Since a significant portion of the completed floor space pertains to pre-sold properties, this indicator primarily reflects the completion and delivery status of the presale housing market in China.
The indicator covers all real estate development enterprises in China and categorizes construction projects into residential buildings, office buildings, and buildings for commercial use. An increase in completed floor space typically indicates smooth progress in the construction of presale properties or rising market demand. Conversely, a decrease in completed floor space may suggest delays in the construction of presale properties or weakening market demand.
